Former homeless people to raise awareness of homelessness

Two former homeless people are walking the length of Britain to raise awareness of homelessness and gauge the state of services across the country.

Barry Etheridge and James House from Street People’s Action and Awareness Group set out from Inverness this week and aim to reach Bournemouth by October.

The group will then produce a report comparing data and the experiences of homeless people in 16 projects in Scotland and England.

Speaking yesterday (Wednesday) from Perth, Etheridge said the walk was going well. “The air’s fresh and there’s glorious scenery,” he said.
