New child sex abuse centre to open

The first national centre to tackle child abuse is to open in London in early 2007, it was announced today.

The NSPCC, supported by the Children’s Charity for the Good of all Children, are planning to bring together specialist teams at the centre in Camden, North London to provide services including research and treatment.

Wes Cuell, director of services for children and young people at the NSPCC said: “Sexual abuse blights the lives of one in six children. If we are to tackle this problem we must look at how the pieces of the puzzle fit together – from prevalence to impact on children.”
