Jane Campbell to chair new independent living panel

The government today announced the membership of an expert panel to steer its review of independent living – the announcement of which was previously reported by Community Care.

Dame Jane Campbell, the former chair of the Social Care Institute for Excellence, will chair the panel, which met today for the first time, while Rob Greig, the national director for learning disabilities, is vice chair.

Other members include John Dixon, joint chair of the Association of Directors of Social Services disability committee, and Mencap chief executive Jo Williams.

Detailed proposals from the review, a cross-government project led by the Office for Disability Issues, are expected to be published next summer.

The review will look at issues including individual budgets.
