Platt says councils favour older people

Many councils focus overly on residential care and on older people’s services at the expense of those for younger adults, Denise Platt has said.

The Commission for Social Care Inspection chair made the comments in a CSCI report this week, which discussed how council commissioning would need to change to
deliver more personalised care.

Platt said it was a “particularly acute” problem to commission a sufficient number and range of services for disabled people or those with learning difficulties.
