Shock suspension for Telford director

A leading figure in children’s services has been suspended in a move that has shocked the sector. Telford & Wrekin Council said it had suspended Christine Davies, its corporate director for children and young people, as a precautionary measure.

A spokesperson said the suspension did not imply any wrongdoing and that it would enable an independent investigation to take place.

The council refused to disclose the reason for the suspension.
