Social care bugbears: lack of funds and too much bureaucracy

One third of social care managers see a lack of resources as the biggest obstacle to success at work and a further third cite bureaucracy, a survey published yesterday says.

The Chartered Institute of Management poll of 132 managers also found that almost half did not think they were fully using their skills in their current role, while a third felt that they should have developed other skills earlier in their career.

The survey also found that the top ingredient of career success was developing experience within one organisation, which was favoured by 22 per cent of respondents.
