Domestic violence awareness campaign launched

Women’s Aid yesterday launched a national domestic violence awareness campaign, using photographs of famous women made up to show the effects of abuse.

The act until women and children are safe campaign – admit domestic abuse is a problem, call it a name and talk to someone about it – involves actors Honor Blackman and Anna Friel, and news presenter Fiona Bruce, among others.

The charity’s chief executive Nicola Harwin said: “We want this powerful campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence, to get people talking about it, to make those experiencing it to realise that they’re not alone.”

The campaign was launched at a reception at 11 Downing Street.
