New campaign to combat elder abuse

Help the Aged today launches a campaign to raise public awareness of elder abuse, amid evidence that it remains low.

A survey published to accompany the launch found 35 per cent had still not heard of elder abuse and 24 per cent would not be able to recognise the signs of it.

The charity is calling for mandatory training for social care staff on detecting and preventing elder abuse, and for other professionals who deal with older people to be able to recognise the signs of abuse.

The Enough is Enough campaign is run in conjunction with Action on Elder Abuse.
