Parenting UK and Family and Parenting Institute win grant to run parenting academy

Parenting UK and the Family and Parenting Institute have won a £30 million grant to run an academy to improve training for social workers and other practitioners working with parents, the government announced this week.

The two charities and King’s College, London, will run the National Academy for Parenting Practitioners, which will open in October this year.

The academy will focus on developing the parenting workforce, particularly those involved in training practitioners, acting as a national centre for disseminating academic research and practicial tips on parenting and supporting the government’s parenting policies.

Parenting UK is a membership organisation for parenting services, which helped develop the national occupational standards for work with parents, while the Family and Parenting Institute carries out research and policy work in the area.
