Gloucestershire Council acts to protect vulnerable affected by floods

Gloucestershire Council’s welfare team is assisting vulnerable people affected by the severe flooding in the area this weekend.

The council has set up a contact centre for people with urgent needs and said its staff had been working around the clock to provide care services to the most vulnerable people.

It said that the River Severn’s levels had risen overnight and were expected to continue to rise during the day.

Some people have had to be evacuated from their homes and the area has been put on a severe flood warning by the Environment Agency.

The contact centre can be contacted on 0800 954 8966 or at gloscountycouncil@hotmail.co.uk

Worcestershire and Oxfordshire have also been seriously affected by flooding.
