Enter our festive photo competition

Are you having a Christmas party? Send us your party photos and win an iPod shuffle.

A third of companies will not hold a Christmas party this year because of a growing “Scrooge mentality” among bosses and a resentment of artificial frivolity, a survey has claimed.

And only four in ten of those companies who are even organising a Christmas party are making any financial contribution to it, the Chartered Institute of Management survey found.

More than half of the 500 survey respondents made the astonishing claim that the atmosphere at work Christmas parties was “forced” and one in three said there was “too much political correctness”. Even more suprisingly, 38% felt the festive season had somehow become “too long”.

Well here at Community Care tower we have no idea how such wrong-headed ideas could find their way into people’s brains. We like nothing better than forced gaiety, powerful work-based hangovers and acute morning-after embarassment.

To mark this fact we have launched our festive photo competition. Send us in your office party snaps, winter wonderland festive scenes, robin with snow on its beak, over-the-top decorations – you know the score. The one we like the most will win an iPod Shuffle. Send your photos to gary.brigden@rbi.co.uk by 2 January. Good luck.
