Online social work community launched

A new online community for everyone in social care was launched this week by Community Care.

CareSpace is a place where social care professionals can share good practice information, ask for advice, network with colleagues from around the country or discuss the big issues of the day.

It features a discussion forum, private messaging, picture uploading facility and easy to use blog system.

Users will also be able to choose to log on using a nickname, allowing them to talk freely about any issue without being identified.

The CareSpace launch follows research commissioned by Community Care last year which found that 85% of social care professionals felt a discussion forum or networking area were an important component of a social care website.

Community editor Simeon Brody said: “Our research suggests there is a real need for a site where social care workers can share information with each other and build a real sense of community. I think CareSpace can do that.”

Advance users of CareSpace have already been discussing issues ranging from the future of social work, to PRTL, to underage drinkers.

CareSpace can be found at www.communitycare.co.uk/carespace
