Jersey: two more arrests in child abuse inquiry

Two people were arrested this morning in connection with the Jersey child abuse inquiry.

A 70-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman are currently in custody for alleged grave and criminal assaults on children within the Jersey care system in the 1960s and 1970s.

Police said that although the matters were connected to the Haut de la Garenne children’s home it is not alleged that the crimes took place there.

Three people have been charged so far in the inquiry, which is examining claims of abuse at the Haut de la Garenne children’s home and other institutions dating back to the 1950s.
