A General Social Care Council conduct committee has suspended a Huntingdon social worker for six months for forming an inappropriate relationship with the father of a child whose case she was allocated.
The committee also found Martine Boyd had committed misconduct by failing to inform Bedfordshire Council immediately on taking up employment that Cambridgeshire Council – her previous employer – was investigating a complaint against her.
In suspending her for six months – rather than issuing a harsher penalty – the committee acknowledged Boyd’s good disciplinary record and testimonials showing she was an able, conscientious and industrious social worker.
