A young man has been found hanged in Bridgend – the 23rd tragedy in the town in 20 months.

Rhys Davies, 23, lived in the same part of the town as three of the recent victims – all young men aged between 19 and 28.

Knife-carrying charges halve over four years

The number of people charged with possessing a knife in the country’s crime hotspots has fallen by half in the past four years, according to new figures.

A total of 2,810 people were charged with possessing a knife or sharp instrument in London in 2004, but in the 12 months to April this year, the number fell to 1,361. However, the figure for this year is almost as high as last year’s total.
