Support Service for Personal/Individual Budgets through Direct Payment

We are seeking tenders from suitably experienced organisations wishing to provide an advice and support service to service users receiving a personal/individual budget made via a direct payment. The contract will start in April 2009 with funding of £450,000 payable over the 3-year term.

Our aim is to ensure that eligibleservice users can access a serviceoffering advice and support in person,over the telephone, by electronic mailand in writing. The successful tendererwill be able to offer help and supportwith:

  • Personal Financial Management -enabling service users to properly manage a Personal/Individual Budget made through a Direct Payment;
  • Recruitment and Selection ofPersonal Assistants – enabling service users to advertise for,interview and appoint a suitable Personal Assistant;
  • Employment of Personal Assistants– enabling service users to mak eappropriate arrangements for theongoing employment of a PersonalAssistant;
  • Employment, Financial and Legal Issues – enabling service users to understand all the statutoryfinancial, legal and employmentobligations arising from receiving a Direct Payment and/or employing aPersonal Assistant.
