Child protection: Woman charged with murder of young sons

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her two sons in north Manchester last month.

Jael Mullings is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court today, accused of murdering Romario Mullings-Sewell, aged two, and his three-month-old brother Delayno.

The boys were found dead at their home in Cheetham Hill on 12 November, after which their mother was arrested and sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Following their deaths, Manchester Council said the family were known to children’s services and announced an investigation into the “nature, extent and appropriateness” of this involvement.
