Social worker admonished for inappropriate conduct

A social worker at Stoke Mandeville Hospital has been admonished by a conduct committee after admitting sexually assaulting women at a trade union event.

The GSCC committee heard that Tom Watt, 50, kissed three women and grabbed one of the women’s breasts without her consent. He also asked one of the women questions about her sexuality.

Watt, at the time a branch secretary for Unison, was given a five-year admonishment following his behaviour at a Unison residential event in 2003, a Unison delegate conference in 2006 and a Christmas party.

The committee noted that Watt did not admit the allegations until the first day of the hearing despite having opportunities to do so. Victim impact statements submitted by the women showed they were distressed by Watt’s continued denials.
