Leading women’s magazine plans positive article on social work

One of the UK’s leading women’s magazines plans to run a positive article about social workers after hearing about Community Care‘s Stand Up Now for Social Work campaign.

The “real life” magazine, which cannot be named until the article is published, said it wanted to put recent misinformation in the wider media into perspective and give social workers a voice.

The planned article would tell the magazine’s 900,000 readers about the important work social workers do and how they would be missed if they were not there. It is likely to include case studies showing how social workers have made a difference to the lives of service users.

Community Care‘s Stand Up Now for Social Work campaign is calling for fair, balanced and accurate coverage of social work in the media – and the opportunity for social workers to share their success stories.

Community Care will be contacting magazines and newspapers with social work success stories to air positive coverage.
