A service to provide learning and social opportunities for the Deaf community and management of the Deaf Community Centre at 1 Convent Road, Norwich.

Norfolk County Council’s Adult Social Services Department, is inviting applications for:

A service to provide learning and social opportunities for the Deaf community and management of the Deaf Community Centre at 1 Convent Road, Norwich.

Tenders are invited in the region of £15,000 to £22,000 per annum from suitably experienced parties that have knowledge of, and capacity to, work and communicate with the Deaf community.

The tender requires:

  • Provision of a wide range of social and leisure activities for Deaf people of differing abilities and ages. Provision of social and leisure activities is to include evening and weekend opportunities. Statutory holidays are excluded.
  • Ongoing consultation with the Deaf community, adapting or adding new provision where changes to the service have been identified as priority.
  • Management of the community centre and supporting the groups including providing a timetable of activities, ensuring access to loop systems and providinga booking system for use of the Community Centre.
  • Provision of data and information to the contracting authority of the development and maintenance of the services and activities.
  • Promoting the social and learning needs of the Deaf community and seeking opportunities to work with agencies to improve accessible choice in meetingthose needs.

    Completed Invitation to Tender applications (and any associated materials) must be received by the Council no later than Friday 12th June at 14.00pm.

    Successful applicants will be invited to an interview which will include a 10 minute presentation. These will take place week commencing 22nd June 2009.

    It is intended to commence the contract on 1 August 2009.
