‘Too fat’ social work row parents reunited with baby

A couple who had all seven of their children taken into care because they were “too fat” have had their new-born baby returned.

Authorities had taken the little girl away hours after her 40-year-old mum gave birth last month. Dundee City Council were concerned about the weight of her brothers and sisters.

Daughter of couple who committed suicide calls for assisted dying debate

The daughter of an elderly couple who were found dead after saying that they wanted to end their lives has called for a further debate on assisted dying.

Dennis Milner, 83, and Flora, 81, his wife, were found at home in Newbury, Berkshire, on Sunday. Neither was terminally ill but both had said that they would choose to die before being unable to care for themselves.

Managers ‘one of the biggest threats to workers’ mental health’

Senior staff should praise more often and allow staff more control over their day to day jobs, according to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice).

The health watchdog also warned that stress and anxiety as well as other mental health problems cost the average size company almost £1,000 a year per employee.
