Raising the level of commissioning skills in social care

A programme to raise the level of commissioning skills in social care is being launched this month by the National Skills Academy for Social Care, says its head of membership and engagement, Debbie Sorkin.

The skills academy is aiming the programme at provider leaders as well as commissioners

Do you want to ensure excellence in commissioning for social care? The National Skills Academy for Social Care’s Commissioning Now programme, which launches this month, is designed to raise the level of commissioning skills across social care, related health and integrated services. It focuses on the fast-changing issues faced by commissioners.

The Commissioning Now model includes:

  • commissioning for personalisation and user-led services;
  • commissioning for integration;
  • leadership skills for commissioners;
  • building market awareness and understanding business models.

Designed for commissioning managers, team leaders and managers of personalised services, as well as directors of adult social services, this exciting new programme builds up over three months, combining facilitated workshops with online learning and other resources.

Our first programme takes place in London, with workshops on the 26 June, 19 July and 4 September – combined with online resources, webinars, and work that learners complete in their own time. Further programmes will be available in the autumn and winter.

Commissioning Now is available now for an introductory price of £1400 + VAT and a reduced rate of £1200 + VAT for member organisations of the Skills Academy.
