Social worker caught with indecent images of children struck off

A social worker who was convicted of possessing indecent images of children has been struck off.

Graham Charles Sutterby was convicted at Worcester Crown Court on 10 September 2012 on four counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child and two counts of possession of extreme pornographic images.

He received a 36-month community sentence, was told to attend a community sexual offending group work programme and ordered to pay £1,200 towards prosecution costs.

Sutterby did not co-operate with the initial police investigation, but he did plead guilty in court, the Health and Care Professions Council’s (HCPC) conduct and competence committee panel heard.

However, Panel chair Sarah Baalham said the panel had received “no information to suggest he has taken any steps to remedy his behaviour or shown any insight”. Sutterby was not present or represented at the hearing.

Removing him from the register, Baalham said: “The offences committed by the registrant are not isolated incidents; they therefore carry a risk of repetition and are viewed by the panel as very serious.”
