Inspiring social care image shows the little things that make a difference

Another winning image from Community Care’s social care photography competition captures the joy of learning life skills

William, the star of this winning image from Community Care’s second Inspiring Images of Social Care competition, is pictured taking his turn to look after the house fish at supported living provider Centra Support.

Karen Priddle, care project manager at Centra Support, said: “I decided to enter the competition because I think the picture shows the involvement that we have with customers to help them maintain their own life skills. William’s face in the picture just shows that he is enjoying what he’s doing.”

William, 25, has mild learning disabilities and has been a resident with the supported living provider for nearly four years.

Karen describes him as a “very sociable lad” who joined Centra from a residential school setting and receives low level support. He has recently achieved his Duke of Edinburgh gold award.

The picture will join 11 others on a charity calendar, which is sponsored by Caritas recruitment and sent out to thousands of social care professionals.

Karen added: “William was absolutely thrilled to win the competition and we were very pleased too. Being featured on the calendar is a great opportunity for Centra and many other organisations to let everybody know what we achieve.”
