Social workers get ‘manual for good practice’ in autism, mental capacity and dementia

Materials, which were produced by The College of Social Work prior to its closure, are designed to be used by social workers at all levels

The government has published a series of new practice guides for social workers in a bid to drive up standards in three areas: the Mental Capacity Act, dementia and autism.

A ‘manual for good social work practice’ and a curriculum guide has been produced for each topic area. All of the materials were commissioned or produced by The College of Social Work prior to the organisation closing last month.

The government said the documents are designed to be used by social workers at all levels “to support them to deliver the best outcomes for the people with whom they work”.
