A Southampton social worker has been removed from the register for sending and receiving a number of offensive emails.
A General Social Care Council conduct committee found Nicholas Martin guilty of misconduct, saying he had disregarded social work values and exhibited contempt for groups of people for whom social workers had a responsibility.
The GSCC said the emails were “offensive and of a sexual nature”.
The decision, which followed a two-day hearing in Southampton, means Martin cannot work as a social worker, though he has a right of appeal to the Care Standards Tribunal .
The GSCC also announced that it would hold a conduct hearing in London, involving a social worker from Wolverhampton next Tuesday and Wednesday (6 and 7 March) involving a social worker who allegedly failed to inform the council of a drink driving conviction.
