The difficulty around the placement of children more than 20 miles away from their homes is compounded when counties do not have any facilities for residential placements and there are insufficient carers to look after the children close to their homes.
I can assure you that we as workers would like them to be closer. It is sometimes difficult to case manage a young person when they are over 200 miles away as well.
