Psychiatric nurses in Manchester to strike tomorrow over job cuts

Tuesday 06 February 2007 00:01

Psychiatric nurses across Manchester will strike tomorrow in protest over proposals to cut 33 posts and regrade their jobs.

Nurses and occupational therapists employed by the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust took industrial action last week and more than 200 have been balloted for a strike tomorrow.

They fear a £5,000 drop in salary if their jobs are downgraded from a band seven to a band six.
