Liz McSheehy has been appointed as the National Skills Academy for Social Care's first director.
McSheehy was previously project director of National Voices, a lobbying body for health and social care charities, which she was responsible for launching last year.
She was appointed by the academy's steering group, which includes representatives from the Department of Health and social care employer and workforce bodies.
The skills academy is due to start work in the autumn and will provide training on leadership, commissioning and employing personal assistants, as well as an accreditation scheme for other social care training courses.
