Social Work with Looked After Children

★★★★★

Christine Cocker and Lucille Allaine

Leaning Matters ISBN 9781844451036

Social work students, particularly those on placements, will benefit from the space given to legislation in Cocker and Allaine's work.

The authors highlight multi-agency workings and how best to ensure a good service to young people. The inclusion of theories and summaries in each section is useful.

The book is good at showing the paths through which young people travel as they make their way through the care system, eventually leading to the leaving care process.

Activities in each section also allow the social worker to understand how the young people feel.
