A children's home worker serving a 12-month prison sentence for assaulting his gay partner with a meat cleaver is facing removal from the register.
Lee Barnard, formerly employed by Rhondda Cynon Taff Council, was found guilty of unlawfully wounding his partner, Mark Baigrie, in September last year.
The assault left his partner with serious injuries to his head and back, according to reports.
After hitting him with the cleaver, Barnard ran upstairs from the basement of the flat and called an ambulance, telling the operator, "I've hit my boyfriend", the reports said.
Barnard was jailed for 12 months at a hearing in Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court in October.
His case will be heard by a conduct committee of the Care Council for Wales on 21 April. It is the second hearing of its kind involving a residential child care worker, after mandatory registration for this group came into effect in Wales in March 2008.
