A social worker has been removed from the social care register after being found guilty of misconduct in her handling of several cases involving children.
A General Social Care Council conduct committee found that Ruth Hughes was guilty of eight of 14 allegations over her conduct, following a two-day hearing in London earlier this week.
Hughes was a social worker at Nottinghamshire Council when she made a series of mistakes in relation to cases between 2004 and 2006.
They included failing to respond to a concern about one child because she needed to take a pet hamster to the vet, transporting children aged five and seven to school and allowing them to cross a road to get into the school, and disclosing to a violent mother the address of foster parents looking after her child.
