A new postgraduate level qualification has been developed for hostel managers as part of a £500,000 leadership programme announced today by the Chartered Institute of Housing and the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Up to 150 hostel managers will benefit from the qualification in around 80 hostel projects spread across 34 local authorities.

The qualification has been created as part of the Government's £90 million programme to turn hostels into "centres of excellence".
