Ministers ban child restraint techniques
The government has suspended the use of two restraint techniques – nose distraction and the ‘double basket’ hold – used on children in custody after medical experts raised concerns over safety.

Guantanamo three will not face UK court
Spanish authorities are seeking to extradite two of the three men released from Guantanamo Bay. The men have spent the last five years in the detention camp.

Pupil in ‘happy slap’ ordeal tied up by teachers
Two teachers have been suspended from Folkestone Academy School in Kent for tying up a pupil - who has a heart defect -with an electrical cable. Social services are investigating the incident.
