Care staff receive guidance on sexual needs of people with learning difficulties

The Family Planning Association has launched a guide to help care staff and carers deal with the sexuality of people with learning difficulties.

The guide promotes good practice in respecting the sexuality of people with learning difficulties including their sexual health needs.

The guide is named after an FPA-founded group in London called TARGET.

The local TARGET group has trained 25 care staff as sex educators, increased the number of agencies providing support for people with learning difficulties and developed a mentoring project for parents and carers.
