Child care charity Barnardo's has called for a balanced debate on pre- and post-adoption issues, following revelations that they and Solihull social services are being sued over a failed adoption.
A West Midlands couple, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are suing for deceit, claiming they were not told a boy they adopted in 1986 had a record of being abused.
A Barnardo's spokesperson said the charity had discussed the child's background and behaviour and arranged meetings with the couple.
'Information was passed to the parents as and when we knew it,' she said. Solihull social services director Michael Hake declined to comment.
