Although more than three-quarters of local authorities are currently working with young people to involve them in decision-making, a quarter of councils believe young people still have very little influence about decisions that affect them, according to a new survey.
Research by the Local Government Association and the Institute for Public Policy Research shows that nearly 90 per cent of the 226 local authorities that responded said they had increased the amount of work done to involve young people in decision-making over the past four years. However, the survey said that only 20 per cent of councils have a young people's strategy, although a further 30 per cent plan to develop one in the future.
