The Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability has appointed its first director. Lisa Curtice, currently course director for the diploma and masters in community care at Glasgow University’s Nuffield Centre.
The consortium of 13 organisations won a competitive tender to create a centre of excellence and best practice through a Scottish executive initiative earlier this year following The Same As You? - a major review of services to people with learning disabilities.
On her appointment, Curtice said: "I am confident that the involvement of people with learning disabilities themselves and experts in the learning disability field will ensure that the Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability will have a positive impact on the lives of people with learning disabilities across Scotland."
Funded by the Scottish executive at £1.5 million over five years, the consortium’s official launch takes place on 5 October while Curtice will take up her post in November.
