The British Union of Social Work Employees has called for reassurances from the NSPCC that the charity's restructuring process will not lead to redundancies.
Steve Anslow, BUSWE general secretary, said that the restructuring was being carried out in a "piecemeal" fashion, and that the 500 BUSWE members who worked for the NSPCC wanted it to be handled as a whole.
Staff at the NSPCC received a written response from chief executive Mary Marsh following claims that the charity was reviewing its services, planning to axe jobs and scaling back its plans for projects.
In her response, Marsh told employees that the restructuring was about ensuring that the best organisation structure was in place to deliver a national strategy through local projects, and that the alignment process was designed to ensure that resources were being used to maximum effect.
