Only 18 per cent of visitors to Community Care's website felt that the government's social inclusion initiatives are benefiting their service users, while 82 two per cent felt social inclusion had not improved their area over the last four years and users were no better off.
This week, in light of the Lauren Wright abuse case, Norfolk social services director David Wright is to write to the Climbie inquiry head Lord Laming asking him to examine stresses faced by social workers that could lead to fatal errors. Wright said that with social workers often subjected to verbal and physical attacks, and still facing an increasing burden of child protection, it was not surprising that mistakes were made from time to time.
