Glasgow City Council has voted to proceed with the public consultation exercise over the transfer of all 82,000 council housing stock to the Glasgow Housing Association in spite of reservations about the viability of current financial plans.
Charles Gordon, leader of Glasgow City Council, has said that the consultation is likely to take at least 28 days, by which time the financial plan can be brought up to requirements.
The second stage of consultation is an actual ballot of tenants, expected to happen in late November.
Campaign groups have criticised Glasgow City Council for trying to railroad tenants into voting in favour of the transfer.
The public sector trade union Unison, backed by the Scottish Trades Union Congress, has accused the council of only presenting favourable information to tenants.
