The government last week published new guidance on how local authorities and social landlords can deal with antisocial tenants.
Getting the Best out of the Court System (in Possession Cases) provides good-practice guidance to councils involved in disputes with difficult tenants, and advises them on the mechanics of seeking possession of their property while stressing the importance of working with the courts.
The guidance also covers the new remand and bails provisions for Housing Act injunctions against antisocial behaviour, which came into effect on 15 October.
And Home Office minister John Denham has announced he is looking at extending the range of organisations able to apply for antisocial behaviour orders from the police and local authorities to include public service bodies organisations and housing associations.
