The consultation process on the best way to improve the protection of young people in Scotland will begin today.
As part of the child protection review, set up earlier this year, it aims to reduce the number of children abused and neglected in the country, and to improve children’s services.
Nicol Stephen, deputy education minister, said: "No child should ever fall through the protection gap because professionals fail to work closely together. It is vital that we do more than just talk about joined up working – we must act."
A consultation letter is to be issued shortly to an extensive range of organisations and individuals associated with child protection, in a bid to gather views and ideas.
