The Welsh Local Government Association has welcomed an extra £5 million for local councils in 2002-2003 to spend on home care and extra places in residential and nursing homes.
The association claims the cash grant was made after its lobbying, and will help to reduce the pressure on hospitals in Wales caused by delayed discharge of older people.
