National care standards covering services provided at home were launched by Malcolm Chisholm, minister for health and community care.
The standards will cover all home care services for people of all ages with mental health problems, physical and sensory impairments and learning disabilities. They are to be administered by the Scottish Commission for Regulation of Care and will be in addition to the residential care standards launched in November.
Chisholm said: "It is unacceptable that in the 21st century our most vulnerable children and adults are receiving care at home without a proper system to regulate that care."
