A ballot of tenants in the controversial proposal to transfer Glasgow council’s housing stock to a new owner is planned to take place on 4 March, deputy minister for social justice Margaret Curran has announced.
The revised business plan of the proposed new stock owners, Glasgow Housing Association (GHA), will be presented to Glasgow council on 31 January. If approval is given, the council will then seek permission from the Scottish executive to ballot all 80,000 tenants, who will have the final say in the proposed transfer of the city’s £4 billion housing stock.
Should the programme proceed as planned, the result of the ballot will be announced on 25 March 2002.
