National voice for youth crime teams

The National Association of Youth Offending Team Managers has been launched in a bid to create "an authoritative voice on youth crime issues with the aim of preventing offending by young people".

The association, which aims to bring together all 154 YOT managers in England and Wales, was launched at a conference at Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Youth Justice Board member Rob Allen told the conference: "Tackling youth crime is a complex area and requires a cross cutting approach. Now that youth offending teams are well established, a voice of those at the sharp end will play an important part in the debate over how best to deal with young offenders."
