Schools minister Catherine Ashton has announced £70m to improve facilities and access to mainstream schools for disabled children.
The money is the second phase of the £220m schools access initiative. It will be used to fund items such as ramps and lifts and adjustable lighting for partially sighted children.
Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, from September schools will be required to increase the accessibility of their schools to disabled pupils.
More funds will boost user-led independent living strategy
