A small majority of visitors to Community Care's website believe paying grandparents would not be the answer to the crisis in child care.
Fifty-seven per cent disagreed with the idea, which the government is considering after examining a scheme run by Nottinghamshire Council offering grandparents vouchers worth up to £25 per week.
Forty-three per cent said they believed the move could help ease the current pressures on child care.
