Swansea prison must improve conditions for its vulnerable prisoners, a report from an unannounced inspection by the prison inspectorate has recommended.
Chief inspector of prisons Anne Owers said although a six-person cell had been closed down, vulnerable prisoners still spent most of the day in "subterranean cells", and had to "slop out".
She said: "We continue to have concerns about the accommodation and regime for vulnerable prisoners. Their education continued to be provided in the cells, without access to classrooms or the library."
Owers recommended the provision of a more active regime for vulnerable prisoners be given priority by Swansea prison.
